I make most of my money as a teacher, but my husband and I organically garden to get as much of our food as we can, and we buy most of the rest locally (with a few clear exceptions). I live in the rural Ozarks now, but I've lived in urban places too, where I gardened in community gardens. I've also got a tiny new blog, http://ozarkhomesteader.wordpress.com/ , where I write about gardening, cooking, the environmental, and frugal living. I'm so glad to have found this forum!

Thank you! It is a beautiful place but currently plagued by poor control on natural gas drilling that I am afraid will damage some things forever--or at least our lifetimes.

Whereabouts in the Ozarks do you live? Missouri? Arkansas? I'm in NE OK, so you may be near me!

Thanks for the kind words about the recipes. I think they are just really simple, born of necessity, but also fun to try to come up with to fit what we have growing.
I'm way east of Oklahoma, near Heber Springs.
