Hello Everyone,
I am at Zone 7/8. I need advice on what veggies I can plant in containers. When should I start them indoors? Thank you.

In Washington, there is no end to what you can grow in containers. I use self watering containers for tomatoes and mellons. I use the scraps for containers for carrots for the kids and I even grew some corn last year. Essentially you can grow anything in containers that you could in a garden, assuming you give it enough space.

As for starting indoors, I assume you mean under lights. I wrote an article for Patti's magazine on that very topic. I think it's coming out in a month or so, right about the time you should be starting.

As for timing of when to start indoors, I really like how KitsapFG does it. I hope she doesn't mind me posting her blog. She has a great setup and good overall climate for Western Washington.

Every vegetable plant is different. Basically count backwards from the date you want to plant it outside. From the last day f frost. heres is a link to my seed starting video.
