I've been mulling it over for a while and finally decided to add my contact info to the Transition Initiatives map for my city. It is an intimidating prospect for such a big city, but at the same time I think there is a lot of potential here. It also lines up really well with other work I am doing.
If you're not familiar with the concept of a Transition Town, or a Transition Initiative, check out http://transitiontowns.org/ . It is essentially a group of people and then a community attempting to develop and then act on a plan to face the twin challenges of peak oil and climate change.
So has anyone been thinking about starting a Transition Initiative in their community? Want to discuss any progress in the first steps of organizing?
