Hi from Boston , help with squirrels

I am a weekend gardener.
I am struggling with squirrels this year and last.
They eat everything is sight.
We live simply and have a dog. Any suggestions for squirrel repellants that won't cause mutations to the rest of us living here?

There are certain pepper sprays that are available on the market. What you do is spray around the plants regularly. Hope this helps. You can also put up netting around the planted area using a hoop house.
