I have this crazy idea for next year's zucchini and yellow squash. Check out the attachment. The bed is placed about 1.5 feet away from the neighbor's garage. What if I stretched trellis netting from the edge of the bed up near the top of his garage (I would build a stand for it, not attach it to his garage) and then train the squash plants up that from the four squares at that edge of the beds? DO you think that would cause the veggies to hang down through the netting and make it super easy to pick them??

Sure. And those that won't, you can train them to go where you want them to go with twist ties and what-not. Heh, you might wanna ask your neighbor if you can reroute his gutter into your bed since it is so close. :D

Sounds like a great idea, Abbey.

That will work. What about sharing the harvest with him and attaching it too the garage? It would be able to hold a lot more weight that way.
