Finished Objects

I cloth diaper my son. So with an obsession for natural fibers, it is expected that I have knit him quite a few wool diaper covers, right? Here are a couple soakers and a pair of longies (that he's already grown out of).

I'll be starting up on his woolens for the coming winter very soon. Anyone else have some finished objects (FO's) to share?

Those are awesome. And you have a great looking model too. I have a shrug I am almost finished making that I will post as soon as it is done. What type of yarn are you using?

Heh thanks. That was like his second or third day. Its hard to believe he was that tiny. Both of those were made with Cascade Ecological Wool - a slightly bulky worsted. Its my favorite for diaper covers as its soft enough to put on a baby's skin and super cheap :)

I also used cloth diapers! I can't knit, but I did sew his diapers. Here's one of the very first diapers I sewed:

I have more pics, but they're on CD downstairs. I LOVED cloth diapers. I also use cloth mama pads, too--so comfy! I also sew other stuff--I'll dig up some pictures and post them. I LOVE your soakers--if I'm so lucky to have another, I might be contacting you!

I did not switch to cloth diapers until my son was 6 months old and when I saw how easy they were I felt foolish for waiting so long.

My little guy (now 3 years old) has very sensitive skin (eczema) and I have found that wool irritates it. I crochet and I want to make him a nice afghan and sleep hat. Any suggestions on natural yarns that might not irritate eczema?

Marci, try Organic Cotton, Soy Silk, or Bamboo. I think that is your best bet for the little guy.

Abbey - Aww he's adorable! If you do need some soakers, perhaps we can arrange a swap. I have a sewing machine but I'm afraid to use it :p

Marci - Do you know what kind of wool you've found to irritate it? Have you tried something like Malabrigo? Some wools are itchier/more irritating than others, and the conventional chemicals used for processing are responsible for what a lot of people think is a wool allergy. But, if it is just wool, Patti had some good suggestions. Rowan makes some great natural fiber yarns - their summer tweed is a personal favorite.

You all are inspiring! I need to get to that fiber. We have a little festival here next weekend called Kids 'n Ewe and Llamas Too. I am going to look for some new yarn and also have fun watching the kids with their animals. They always have workshops but I can't get to them this year. It will be fun. Great pictures everyone. I keep trying to get things together to get some gifts made for Christmas and have all my quilting stuff out and looking at designs....problem is my body is giving me such a hard time after the surgery. I just got out of the hospital for the 2nd time since the surgery with infection...my family understands things will be dismal this year but we are planning on a family gathering in Jan so we can get things at a big discount if necessary. Kim
