So, I'm making my tea this morning, and it suddenly occurs to me that spent tea leaves are compostable! :lightbulb:

Yeah, this is an experiment waiting to happen!

Okay, I know for the rest of you, this realization happened, like, YEARS ago. But it was an ah-hah for me!

I'll let you know how it goes.

BTW: My only previous experimentations with composting failed miserably. I have to figure out how to do it right. My compostables are usually "wet" (kitchen scraps). I need to figure out that wet/dry ratio thingy.

I love those epiphanies.

We actually drink a ton of tea ourselves, loose leaf. So for a year now the spent leaves go into our kitchen compost bin. In that bin we don't concern ourselves with green or brown, though on occasion I dump my paper towels and tissues in it, so I'm guessing it's not a horrible ratio.

As for wet/dry, I've never heard about that. Sure you don't want compost too wet, but if you're composting paper, tissues and plain cardboard, that shouldn't be a problem.

Just my 2 cents.

That reminds me, I need to dump my kitchen bin on the pile. Timely post, thanks and good luck.
