Hello,
Just to share a bit of information, I took up Gardening about 5 years ago after we moved in, deciding to cut back an area of about 20X40 of overgrown brush that had been left untouched for about 40 years. I layed down newspaper with mulch over the top, to keep the shrubs from regrowing. Low and behold, the old roots eventually rotted away and I even got a few vegetables the first year without digging up old roots! Now it is producing quite well, my neighbor gave us some Raspberry plants which have really taken off, my two boys love to go into the garden after school and harvest them ! I have found Gardening to be a great stress reliever and a way to put the work day behind, but the sustainability portion is new to me and really interestng. Go Patti and keep up the good work!

My granddaughter loves the raspberries as much as I do and at the age of 2 she would stand at the plants pick and eat. She is now the ripe old age of 4 and will eat all of them if I let her. Lucky for her I have thornless ones so she doesn't have to worry about getting scratched up.
