Lettuce experiment

I decided to try growing a couple lettuces indoors, in the basement, under my inexpensive grow light set up. I have to say this is something I will definitely do again! We are able to pick 3-4 small salads a week or enough lettuce for a few sandwiches with just a few containers and the plants are now only about 5 weeks old. If you want to see a couple pictures of my helper holding some of the containers, take a look at my blog. We supplement the salads with sprouts from mung and adzuki beans and now alfalfa. It is worth a try!

I grew several varieties under lights this winter for a display at our early spring garden show. it worked so well i'm wondering why i never tried it before.
