Does anybody grow flowering plums and if so are they edible?-: Are they sweet or sour?

I have a plum tree! But no fruit, I probably need another one for pollination.

technically speaking, the flowering version of a tree (sold for its floral effect) is usually fruitless, or has barren fruit. We have flowering quince, pear, crabapple, plum, etc around these parts - all fruitless.
However, that's not to say that the fruiting varieties don't make pretty flowers. They do. But not quite as showy, and you're not growing them for the flowers (necessarily.)
Trick is, to find a variety that appeals to you on both levels.

Patti, I have only one plum tree and I get loads of fruit off it. I wonder if it benefits from being near my bee attractor plants?

Thank you for letting me know they are fruitless! I was going to buy some seeds for them but now I know! I keep on looking!
