Hello, My tomato plants are ready to be transplanted into bigger containers, I am going to use potting soil for the transplants, is that soil good for this purpose?
Thanks in advance,
Walt

Good potting soil will work just fine.

Try and find organic potting soil that is high in compost. That way there are plenty of nutrients for the tomato. You can also add your own compost if you have some available. Remember, when you are transplanting tomatoes make sure you plant a lot of the stalk removing some of the lower leaves in the process. Roots will grow and help create a stronger root ball and stronger plant.

A few years ago I started using a home-made potting and seed starting mix that has worked extremely well for me. It's 1/3 peat or purchased potting mix or sifted leaf mold, 1/3 sifted home-made compost, and 1/3 worm castings (you do have a worm box don't you?). It's cheap/free and it works better than anything you can buy. My tomato seedlings are the envy of my garden club.
