Good
Folks! Lots of stuff happened this week. I finally signed my contract with Farmers Almanac, where I will be contributing content to their fantastic site. It is a great honor and the kind of folks I want to work with. Check them out at www.farmersalmanac.com where they will shortly begin making announcements about my Urban Sustainable Living videos.
The relaunch of the garden girl tv website is getting close as well. I am so excited I don't know what to do with myself. This is going to be something really special, the folks at Sonoradesignworks have been working like crazy to sift through the huge amounts of content I've been working on, so stay tuned, and remember to forward my newsletter to everyone you can think of as I continue the membership drive.
I managed to shoot my Chicken Tractor special this week as well as my first slow food spectacular. The photos barely describe how delicious it really was.
And the Tomato crop has been huge! Remember to come by and get yours. We have been pulling down almost ten pounds a day, so remember to check out the farm stand. It should be great weather, so come on down.
Check out the extended coverage and photo's. On friday there will be some sneak peak video on www.gardengirltv.com.
The Tomato Crop
My other name should be the Tomato Lady. The harvest has been great this year. The plants have overgrown their stakes, but are fruiting strong. I am going to develop a new support system for next year.
Any folks that got tomato's from me find they have a large amount of yellows in their Tiffen Menonite? Just curious. I have been eating them like crazy,
Educational Visits
This week Aviva Asher and the kids from Somerville Groundworks came over for a tour and planted a garden bed for me in my new garden. These kids were great, asked good questions and really pitched in when it counted. Hope to see pics of their garden's soon.
Brother Jo, and the kids from Paige Academy came over for a fun time, on the hottest day of the year I swear. It is great to see how young minds react to the Urban Sustainable Garden. Good fun!

Roast Chicken
The Chicken turned out superb. The man at the processing place even commented on how nice the birds were. This is chicken I cooked, the full video will be ready soon, but man was it delicious!
This whole meal(mostly) came from the farmette. Slow food cooking is so refreshing and healthy. Come and Pick up your chicken this weekend!
Kifo the Garden Gnome
I
finally shot my Kifo the Garden Gnome video. Kifo has moved on, but he did a great
job keeping the spirits happy!
Now I will be cleaning out the tiny house for viewing and back to spinning, unless a new Garden Gnome comes along.
Kifo will be missed! Stay tuned for the video on Kifo the Garden Gnome, or how a giant man lived in a house only 80 square feet!
Dear Patricia,
All
right, so the Chicken is in. For your pleasure we will have 25 chickens available
for purchase starting Sunday evening, and from then on during weekdays between
5 and 7pm. We won't have the prices available until Sunday evening. I am going
to grill a couple on Monday evening as well. Remember, Chicken will be first come,
first serve. Our sign in sheet was rained on, so we have to be first come first
serve.
Also, we are working on a Chuck Turner fundraiser, we don't quite have a date yet, but we are going to call it the Feast on the Farm. We will need everyone's support in helping our beloved city councilor continue to do his thing. In the age of Sober houses in our neighborhood we have to be vigilant and united behind our councilor, our voice in City government.
We are closed this weekend for our maintenance and prep for chickens, but nextweekend should be booming as the tomatoes are coming in like crazy. The chicken will be first come first serve, so don't forget to jump on it.
I am also beginning my sign up drive. So anyone who can help out and get some folks to sign up at my website www.gardengirltv.com, it would be a great help towards making Urban Sustainable Living a reality. I need lots of traffic on the site so that I can get sponsors to help pay for the research and educational outreach I'm doing.
Chef Nadine of Discerning Tastes
Chef
Nadine Nelson, is one of our neighborhood food experts, was born and grew up in
Toronto, Canada which is widely regarded as one of the most multicultural cities
in the world. It offers a cultural diversity that spans the globe that Chef Nadine
enjoyed every week when her family would embark on culinary outings traveling
to different lands while eating at an eclectic array of restaurants. She is also
of Jamaican heritage with this country's national motto being "Out of many, one
people". Traveling to the land of "wood and water" to visit her family during
school vacations allowed Chef Nadine to experience Jamaica's mosaic with people
from African, Chinese, Indian, Middle Eastern, and European descent. Chef Nadine
has loved hanging out in the kitchen with her mother and her family whom are all
great cooks and were her first culinary instructors.
Chef Nadine will be here cooking us up a feast for Chuck! Check out her website and show your support. www.discerningtaste.net
I am beginning My Membership Drive
I
have shot almost a hundred hours of video tape and have begun to start putting
it together with a preparation for a September Launch. I will be partnering up
with Farmers Almanac as well, which is very exciting. I do need your help. Please
forward this email around and ask people to sign up at my web site www.gardengirltv.com,
for my newsletter and interesting ideas and projects you can do to help make our
Urban Area's more sustainable. It is free, no costs, etc. So if you can help out,
it would be greatly appreciated.
Get folks to sign up, every little bit does matter, so help me out.
